China Foods Culture: Chinese Cuisine

China cuisine culture also called Chinese food culture is an important part of China culture in the aspect of cooking and leisure. Chinese cuisine culture goes sophisticated as the history of China goes. China food also has a worldwide reputation due to its long-term spread from China to the other regions of the world.

Noodles

Noodles are the symbol of longevity in Chinese culture. They are as much a part of Chinese birthday celebration as a birthday cake with lit candles is in many countries, so that youngsters or seniors all will have a bowl of Long Life Noodle in the expectation of a healthy life. Since noodles do symbolize long life, it is considered very unlucky to cut up a strand.

Tofu

Tofu (a bean curd) is a common Chinese food in vegetarian diets. It supplies same amount of calories and sodium as in the Stir-Fried Greens, when deep-fried as it in the Tofu & Mixed Vegetable dish. It is good for health.

Shrimp

The Shrimp is also a very popular Chinese dish. Shrimp with Garlic Sauce dish with vegetables is lower in calories (700). However, they are very high in sodium (3,000 mg).

Chicken

Chicken is considered better for health than red meat however not when it is fried like it is in the General Tso’s Chicken dish (which comes with vegetables). This dish has 1,300 calories and a whopping 3,200 mg of sodium.

Eggs

The Chinese believe eggs symbolize fertility. After a baby is born, parents may hold a "red egg and ginger party", where they serve round hard-boiled eggs to announce the birth. Egg rolls or spring rolls resemble the shape of a gold bar, and thus are often served on the New Year as a symbol of wealth and prosperity in the coming year.
