Barbecue

A Hawaiian birthday party is a great time to fire up the grill. Pork is popular in Hawaii, however, you can also include tuna and mackerel steaks. For vegetarian guests, convey a sheet of tinfoil on the grill and employ that area to grill skewers of vegetables like onions, tomatoes and peppers. You can also grill pineapple for any bit of sweet tropical flavor. Serve tropical fruit punch using the meal.

Limbo Contest

A limbo contest has got the teens on their feet and playing an easy, amusingly competitive game with few rules with no teams. Decorate a long PVC pipe with ribbons and paint. Have a couple hold either end from the pipe and get all of the guests to file for underneath the pole, bending backward when needed, not forward. Play some island music to help keep things lively and, after all of us have gone under once, lower the pole for the following round. The winner may be the person who can bend backward the furthest to obtain under the pole as it moves less and less with each round.

Hula Hoop Contest

Pass hula hoops to your guests and play Hawaiian music to allow them to hula to the beat. Whoever will keep the hoop going for a long period of time is the winner. Send the party-goers home using their hula hoops as party favors.

Evening Lighting

If you are hosting a Hawaiian-themed birthday party at night, illuminate it with tiki torches. Stake all of them over your backyard or swimming pool area to create a fantastic ambiance. You may also use Christmas lights around the surrounding bushes or trees to boost the lighting effect.
